This riparian buffer enhancement, located off of Slifer Valley Rd. in Springfield Township, was completed in March 2010. There is an existing forested riparian buffer at this project site, along the Cooks Creek mainstem and an unnamed tributary, however regeneration in the forest understory is poor due to browsing by deer. Chapter members planted 155 native trees and 64 native shrubs, enhancing the forest diversity at the site and the ability of the buffer to filter pollutants from nearby agricultural fields.
